spend，pay，take 与 cost这四个词都有“花费”之意，但具体用法不同，区别如下：

1.spend

指花费时间和金钱。只能用人作主语，有被动语态。常用结构：某人+spend（s）+时间/金钱+on sth./(in) doing sth. 某人花费时间/金钱（做）某事

例： I spent three hours doing my homework.

我花了三个小时写作业。

I spend ten yuan on the book.

我花了十元买这本书。

2. pay

指支付金钱和感情的回报。只能用人作主语。常用结构：sb. pay（s）+ 金钱 + for sth. 某人花费金钱在某物上

例： I paid six yuan for the pen.

我花了六元钱买这支钢笔。

Accommodation is free — all you pay for is breakfast and dinner.住宿免费——你只需付早餐和正餐的钱。

3. cost

指花费时间、金钱、精力等，只能用事物作主语且无被动语态。

常用结构： sth.+cost（s）sb.+时间/金钱

例： The ticket cost me eight yuan.

这张票花了我八元钱。

The total cost of this picnic was about 200 yuan.这次野餐的全部费用大约200元。

4.take

指花费时间和力气，一般只用it做形式主语（事物作主语）

常用搭配：It+takes+某人+时间/金钱+to do sth.

某人花费...时间(金钱)做某事

例：It takes us ten minutes to brush my teeth every day.

我们每天花十分钟刷牙。

It took me an hour to come here.

到这里来花了我一个小时。
